JOE KIZAN PITTELLI

Joe Kizan Pittelli is a martial artist and has been practicing karate since 1971. In 1998, Pittelli Sensei was ordained as a Zen priest. He trains in Zen under Gordon Hakuun Greene Roshi. Pittelli Sensei also trains in shakuhachi (bamboo flute) under Wayne Honda Roshi. Pittelli Sensei helps teach the online shakuhachi class and watches over many of our online Zen training activities. Pittelli Sensei has been named as the first Chosei Zen teacher to carry the title of ʻMaster of the Way,ʻ awarded for his demonstration of a life lived as a Way.
