Twice per year, we hold intensive periods of online intensive Zen training called keishin (繋心 pronounced “kay-shin”) or “to connect the mind” in Japanese. This will be a different kind of intense online training experience from ones we have offered before. All participants across all time zones will train together using the following schedule:
THU, Mar. 21: 12 - 3 pm PST / 2 pm - 5 pm CST / 8 - 11 pm CET
FRI-SAT, Mar 22-23 7 am - 3 pm PST / 9 am - 5 pm CST / 3 - 11 pm CET
SUN, Mar 24: 7 - 10 am PST / 9 am - 12 pm CST / 3 - 6 pm CET
The training will be continuous, with periods of zazen interspersed with a range of other physical trainings from the “one-corner” curriculum we are developing. There will be no breaks other than a 30 minute meal break and bathroom breaks, as needed. You can register below. People who register will be emailed a list of simple materials to prepare ahead of time. For more information, please contact Ryan Roshi.
To prepare, students should have received basic instruction on how to sit zazen and have been sitting online or on their own for at least a month. Students should be able to sit for 45 minutes at a time without moving, understand the basic principles of hara breathing, and have a hara belt for personal use (see FAQs). If interested in participating, please discuss with your teacher. If you don’t have a teacher yet, please send an inquiry through the contact form at the bottom of the Virtual Dojo page. Once approved, please register below.
Events through Chosei Zen are donation-based and open to all regardless of ability to pay. All donations are very much appreciated and help keep our dojos running! You can donate online here.
